I phoned the no. & gave the lady my winning no.KIA2166P (WHICH SEEMS TO BE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE). She asked me to phone back in 5 min while she checks whether my phone no. is the rightfull winner. I phoned back in 5 min & she congratulated me that my phone no. was the winning no. She needed me to sms my name, surname, account no.& R360 MTN airtime voucher no. so that she can activate my claim. I kept her talking and I could hear a child crying in the background. She asked me twice "when am I going to sms the airtime voucher no." I told her that this was a scam & whether I could verify if this promotion is authentic. She told me to phone the no. 073 423 3309 to verify, but this was the no. the sms was sent from. WHAT A SCAM & THEY THINK I WILL FALL FOR IT.

I nevr bothered to phone as it looked suspicious and after reading your posts and realise that it definately is a scam!
I am also a South African, and received an email at 2.15am. congratulating me on the same scam. The same cell no' 0734233309.
Can this number not trace the person. It is an Mtn No' surely the police can put a trace on them.

All mobile numbers are meant to be RICA'd........surely MTN can trace who this number belongs to and put an end to this scam!!!!

Yip I am from South Africa as well, and I recieved the same sms that I have won R90 000 in the Kia Motors Awards Promo, at 12:53am on 20/1/11. Phoned, and she said I must phone back in 5 min. Thank God I could not get through to the number again after that.

I don't recall entering a competition hosted by Kia and luckily have internet access to check and verify info.
Kia should really make an effort to catch these scam artists as it is their name linked to it.

Im from South africa, and also received the same sms! What makes it so rediculous is that the sms comes through in the middle of the night, and that already should ring a bell that it is a huge scam. What is happening this is just another way showing people that they will do anything to get your information! And for all you people out there it just shows you that there is just nothing we can do but just be alert for these scams and not to give out any personal information!

I googled Kia Motors 2013 Promo and discovered this site. Sad to say this scam looks to be going on for a long time, and targeting mostly Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

HI everyone, I'm Bonic from Papua New Guinea. I got a similar text message from a siimilar number and was told that I won 7800000 GBP and a Kia 213 Model car. There was a gmail emaail account for me to contact so i did contacted the one by the name of Dr. Mark Shaw.
He refered me to a Oversea Chinese bank to open a bank account before the transfer began and was asked to transfer money through Western Union Money Transfer but I felt it was a scam so i googled Kia Motors and found you guys... Kaikai traila leg na em scam ya.... Lucky I did not send the money.
